Does Your Horse Love You? 6 Signs Your Horse Shows She Does!

Horse Loves You

Horses are indeed one of the most beautiful and graceful animals in the world. To some, their magnificence and size can be a little daunting. Horse lovers think otherwise. They look at horses as regal and stately. What everyone should know is the fact that horses can be just as silly and affectionate as any of our pet dogs.

Of course, we know for a fact that horses are larger. Therefore, they may not be able to have the same ways to show adorations like dogs do.

However, horses have their own way to show their love and affection to their owners. Here are some of them:

  1. Using Your Shoulders As Chin Rest

Does your horse drape her head over your shoulders? You might think she’s using you as a chin rest. But that, my friend, is a horse hug.

See, horses love to hug each other to show affection. According to Jeanne Grunert, a horse expert, horses hug by facing each other and hooking their necks together.

Your horse knows that you are not as big as her, but she loves to wrap her neck around you to show how much she loves you.

  1. Comes when called

Horses are intelligent animals. They are familiar with your voice. In fact, even your whistle or your car sound can make them on the gravel.

If your horse comes running when you call her name, that’s a sign that she loves to spend time with you and looks up to you for guidance.

  1. Nuzzles and Snuggles

Contrary to what we usually see in the movies, horses are not a fan of nose pats. They may allow you to do so, but these are not really her favorite thing.

So, if your horse comes to you and rubs her nose against you, then it’s a great sign that she loves you with all her heart. Isn’t that sweet?

Nickers and Murmurs

  1. Nickers and Murmurs

Horses may not be able to talk to us directly but they sure have ways to communicate with us. They neigh when they want to blow off steam. They whine when they want to say hello. They nicker if they want to spend time with you.

A horse’s nicker is a soft and affectionate sound a horse makes when they see their favorite person.

  1. Horse Kisses

Just like dogs, horses also love kisses. They can either lick you with their slimy tongues or lip you. Lipping is when a horse grasps you gently with their lips. It’s their way to tell you that they miss or love you.

  1. Following You

Does your horse follow you everywhere you go? You might not have realized it yet, but to your horse, you’re the leader of the herd.

Horse behavior expert Franklin Levinson says that when your horse follows you, it means she trusts you to take care of her and keep her safe.

So, do you agree? Do you have any other signs?
